Afghanistan is a country in Central Asia. He is sometimes classified as part of South Asia or the Middle East because of its proximity to Iran Plato. Afghanistan borders Iran to the west, south and east Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan to the north, and the People's Republic of China in the east end. Afghanistan also shares borders with Kashmir, the territory disputed by India and Pakistan. Afghanistan is one of the poorest countries in the world.
In the period between the overthrow of the Taliban regime in 2001 and Loya jirga (council session of the Council of Traditional) in 2004, the Western world calls this country by the name of the Transitional Islamic State of Afghanistan.
